Process is Progress right?

When you have exchanges amongst people, where data is being generated and that data needs to become timely, well organized information - you have workflow.  Many organizations do not recognize these flows and simply ignore their workflow and key processes leaving them hinged upon archaic and inefficient methods and reliant upon outdated or clunky technology or no technology and unwritten rules.  While, other organizations have a supreme sense of these workflows, diagramming them and scrutinizing their steps, states and transitions - determining the best mix of resource and how to optimize for greater workload and flow.

Most people would say the workflow-centered company is better off, however each company type presents challenges.  We'll call the former, less enlightened and reactive company Blind, Inc.  The latter more process intense company we'll call Optimize, Inc. I want to get into more insight about what challenges each type of organization faces more in depth in subsequent posts.  I will start by noting that each faces the risk of paralysis.  One is cause by a lack of insight - we don't know what we don't know and we don't know where to look @ Blind, Inc.  The other being paralysis by analysis by looking at too much, too often and changing things constantly before they can hit a good rhythm and flow @ Optimize, Inc.
